An open letter to the U.S. Senate

Urgent Request: Help Reunite Martir Garcia Lara, 4th Grader Detained by ICE

23 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I’m writing to ask for your urgent attention to the heartbreaking case of Martir Garcia Lara, a fourth-grade student from Southern California who attends a Torrance elementary school. Martir was recently detained by ICE in Texas after attending an immigration hearing with his father. He was separated from his father and is now being held in a facility far from his home, his school, and his family. Martir is just a child — a student in our community — and he deserves to be treated with dignity and humanity. This situation is deeply distressing and raises serious concerns about the trauma being inflicted on children through our immigration system. Please, I urge you to look into this matter and use your voice to help reunite Martir with his family and ensure no other children are subjected to this cruelty. Thank you for your time, your heart, and your leadership.
