I’m your constituent and am writing with grave concern about the groundwork being laid for calling a national emergency ahead of the midterm elections. Free, fair and trusted elections are the bedrock of government in this country. Remarks by President Trump and Steve Bannon have openly suggested calling for a national emergency to take over control of midterm voting. The time to act to avoid this crisis is now. Please loudly and publicly call for free, fair and transparent midterm elections. This is a non-partisan issue which every elected member should feel able to support. Any steps towards invoking an emergency to affect the voting process must be quickly and loudly condemned.
