An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Demand Federal Investigations Into Suspected Lynchings of Black Americans

212 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!

Stop accepting "suicide" as the official story when Black men and women are found hanging from trees. These deaths demand federal investigation, not a quick ruling that closes the case and buries the truth. The pattern is undeniable, and the refusal to treat these cases as potential lynchings is itself a political choice. This is Jim Crow with a paperwork trail. When local authorities rush to call these deaths suicides without thorough investigation, they are failing the victims, their families, and every community watching this happen. The federal government has both the authority and the obligation to step in when local investigations are inadequate or compromised. Open federal investigations into these deaths. Direct the Department of Justice to review cases where Black men and women were found hanging and the suicide ruling was made without a credible, transparent investigation. These families deserve answers, and this country cannot keep looking away.
