Social Security: Love It or Lose Your Seat
13 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!
Ninety years ago, America made a promise: no senior, child, or disabled person should be shoved into poverty because life got hard. Social Security is how we keep that promise.
If you’re voting to cut it, starve it of staff, close its offices, or make it harder for people to get their benefits, here’s what you’re really doing:
• Targeting kids: 6.2 million children receive benefits, and nearly a million are lifted out of poverty.
• Pushing seniors into destitution: without it, 4 in 10 older Americans would be below the poverty line.
• Hurting your own district’s economy: Social Security pumps money straight into local businesses every month.
• Wasting taxpayer money: admin costs are less than 1% of spending.
• Breaking a perfect track record: it’s never missed a payment, even in the worst crises.
The 2034 shortfall? 81% of benefits still fully funded.
Closing the gap is easy: make the wealthy pay the same share of their income that everyone else does.
Cutting Social Security isn’t “fiscal responsibility.” It’s sabotaging one of the most efficient, popular, and effective programs in U.S. history - and betraying the people you swore to serve.
If you’re in Congress, you have a choice: Be remembered for protecting Americans’ dignity, or for tearing it down.
