You are overseeing, offering compliance to, and enabling a regime of gross human rights abuses, perhaps crimes against humanity, certainly ongoing and shocking contempt for life, law, and human decency as well as the US Constitution. Do your sworn duty to the constitution: uphold the rights there enshrined, reclaim congressional powers of appropriations, tariffs, war powers; impeach Trump. The deaths that will result from the illegal cuts and closure to USAID are estimated to be 14 million. These belong to Congress for not insisting on upholding its appropriations powers. ICE and Trump are violating posse comitatus in California. ICE is carrying out illegal kidnappings. Habeas corpus is being shredded. People are dying in detention. "Alligator Alcatraz" will someday be the target of international human rights prosecution. Congress owns these monstrous abuses. It's time to legislate to rein in ICE. What is the point of all this illegality, cruelty, and evil? It is not bringing safety or prosperity. If you don't care about human decency and human rights, then consider the cost to the economy and to American soft power. Jobs are down, crops are rotting in the fields, businesses that depend on immigrant workers are in trouble. The history of the past 7 months echoes, eerily, the history of the Third Reich: book burnings, bigotry, stripping people of their rights, attempts to seize expanded executive power. Hitler did not start with the gas chambers. Do not normalise all this. Every day that you fail to discuss impeachment, you normalise the lawless abuses of executive power that are bringing fear, death, economic ruin, public health deterioration and ridicule and mistrust from our former allies.
