R estore overhead cost coverage for biomedical research.
There’s nothing “ cost saving” about shutting down institutions that fund science to better human health. There’s nothing cost savings about stopping long term research projects that will take decades to restart. There’s nothing ethical or moral about ending people’s fruitful careers before they begin. There’s nothing smart about cutting off research training programs in a field that seen double digit growth in the past few years. Llife sciences jobs in the state (Maine) grew by 42% between 2017 and 2022, compared to 1% growth in all sectors for the same period of time, (Portland press herald, 3/21/25).
On a related note, I know we can’t legislate our way out of this. So new tactics must be used. I hate to say this but it’s time to stop being polite and reasonable. These times and the destruction this administration is causing call for more and stronger action!!!! We are all afraid of retaliation. Even just writing this feeble letter and attending rallies we are afraid. This is obscene. This is America! ?!?! Come together and do something - please.
