It should be illegal to "party-switch" - especially while serving

I recently read that [once again] a political candidate ran under one party, was voted into office, and then switched parties giving an unscrupulous advantage; a partisan super-majority enabling them to pass laws not favored by nor in the best interest of the majority of the citizens of said state.
If a candidate runs under one party with a certain platform of ideals and beliefs, gets the votes, is elected then switches once in office I find that to be dishonorable, and deliberately deceptive. I'm concerned that party-switching may become a tactic commonly practiced to deceive voters. Party changes should only be allowed prior to an election; well before voting begins. Legislators should not be allowed to change their party while serving, and if they insist then it should result in immediate expulsion from their seat. That being said, I know party-switching doesn't fix the issue of when a legislator doesn’t switch parties and still goes against the will of the people of said party, but I think it’s a step in the right direction of expecting honorable representation.
I urge you to present a bill that makes it illegal to party-switch within a reasonable time frame prior to an election, as well as while serving. If a legislator wishes to change parties while serving then the consequence should be they are removed from office.
Thank you.
