An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Preserve Comprehensive Historical Narratives for an Informed Society

5 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

National Park rangers should not be mandated to display signage prompting visitors to report any information critical of American history. Our shared history encompasses challenging facets, including the mistreatment of Native Americans and the brutal reality of slavery. Attempting to deny or obscure these truths does a disservice to our national consciousness and impedes progress. Congress must ensure that historical narratives, regardless of their complexity, remain preserved and accessible. Erasing difficult chapters from the past undermines accountability and inhibits meaningful reconciliation. A comprehensive understanding of history, even its most troubling aspects, is crucial for fostering an informed and just society. This issue demands vigilance to uphold the integrity of historical discourse.
