Halt Border Wall Construction on Tohono O'odham Sovereign Land

Please do everything in your power to stop this egregiously disrespectful ruling and halt border wall construction on the Tohono O'odham Nation's reservation lands in southern Arizona. Judge Leon's August 14 decision greenlit 62 miles of wall through sovereign Indigenous territory by leaning on a 1907 Roosevelt-era land designation that predates the tribe's own reservation. The court dismissed aboriginal title, ignored real cultural harm, and hid behind federal sovereign immunity to erase a trespass claim. This is stolen land. Stop the repeated theft. It is preposterous that in 2026, with today's access to information and technology, we still cannot acknowledge that Indigenous peoples were here first. The One Big Beautiful Bill Act handed DHS $46.6 billion for border infrastructure, and that money is being used to bulldoze land that was never ours to take. The Tohono O'odham Nation has said their people, land, and culture were never adequately consulted before construction began. And now DHS wants to deploy so-called "nonlethal" electric gloves on sovereign Indigenous land. That is a rogue regime, not a legitimate government. Support the tribe's ongoing legal challenge, demand a construction halt pending full tribal consultation, and push for real congressional oversight of DHS. History preservation, justice for tribal nations, and protection of public lands are among my most important voting priorities.
