An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Oppose spying on the LGBTQ community. Put protections back in place.

I strongly oppose the Department of Homeland Security's decision to eliminate policies prohibiting intelligence gathering based solely on an individual's gender identity or sexual orientation. This move is a disturbing step backwards that enables discriminatory surveillance practices and infringes upon fundamental civil liberties. Allowing the targeting of people based on their identities rather than reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing is antithetical to American values of equality and freedom. I urge you to take immediate action to reinstate robust protections against discriminatory intelligence activities and safeguard the rights of all citizens, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. We must uphold our nation's principles of justice and reject any policies that enable bias, profiling, or the erosion of cherished civil liberties.
