An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Investigate ICE’s Brutality

15 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am writing to demand an immediate, full, and transparent investigation into the recent actions and conduct of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Reports from communities across the country describe a pattern of disturbing behavior—law-abiding residents and American citizens being wrongfully detained, families being traumatized, and children exposed to completely unacceptable levels of force, including the use of tear gas. These accounts are growing more frequent, not less, and they demand your urgent attention. Americans are witnessing people being pulled from their homes without clear justification, subjected to aggressive enforcement tactics, and treated as threats solely because of how they look or where they were born. These practices run counter to the Constitution, to basic human dignity, and to the values this nation professes to uphold. ICE officers must be properly trained, held to strict standards, and accountable for the power entrusted to them. When enforcement actions disproportionately target people based on perceived race or ethnicity, that is not law enforcement—that is discrimination, and it is unacceptable in the United States of America. This is not the country we claim to be. It is un-American. It is unjust. And it is an embarrassment to every citizen who believes in equal protection under the law. Congress has both the authority and the obligation to act. I am demanding the following: 1. A formal Congressional investigation into ICE’s operational practices, training standards, use of force, and civil rights compliance. 2. Immediate oversight hearings with sworn testimony from ICE leadership, field agents, and impacted community members. 3. Stronger federal safeguards to prevent racial profiling, wrongful detentions, and excessive force. 4. Clear public reporting and accountability mechanisms to ensure these abuses cannot continue unchecked. Every day that passes without action risks more violations, more trauma, and more irreparable harm to innocent people simply trying to live their lives in peace. This is not a partisan issue—it is a moral, constitutional, and human one. I urge you to fulfill your duty to the American people. Investigate ICE. Hold them accountable. Restore the integrity of our institutions and protect the rights of every person within our borders.
