Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
I think we can all see where this is going. There’s one reality show that’s long overdue for cancellation. And I think we saw why in AZ the other day.
I read it called “the Andrew Dice Clay [remember him?] conundrum: If your entire schtick is based on shock value, eventually the audience grows inured, and the lack of substance becomes embarrassingly plain.”
Seriously. Who wants to listen to the same tired, false, delusional, egocentric whine for years and years and years? Only the extreme fringe it would appear.
And once your schtick has extended to assaulting the democracy you were elected to protect, where do you go from there? I hope we don’t find out.
Even GOP leaders are tentatively trying to distance from the bad ratings. Slowly, but there are hopeful signs from those who prefer the country over a cult.
And they can see the writing on the wall. Who doesn’t? Lies will never substitute for the truth. The best propaganda in the world can’t support an alternate reality forever.
Or as one of your own put it this a.m.: “We should not underestimate the American people,” he said. “The American people are not going to vote for a cheat.” Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA)
That’s what we’ve been trying to tell you.
