Protect Special Education and Restore Congressional Authority

I’m writing in deep concern over reports that the Trump administration recently terminated over 4,000 federal employees—including nearly the entire staff of the Department of Education’s office responsible for overseeing special education. This office safeguards the rights of infants, children, and youth with disabilities. Gutting it is not only unconscionable—it may be illegal.
Congress must act immediately to investigate and reverse these firings. The legislative branch has a constitutional duty to ensure that executive actions do not violate federal law or dismantle essential public services. I urge you to reassert Congressional oversight and protect the integrity of our education system.
Additionally, I call on all members—Republicans and Democrats alike—to return to the table and pass legislation that permanently extends ACA premium tax credits, prevents increases in healthcare costs, and restores Congress’s power of the purse. Americans deserve stability, accountability, and bipartisan leadership.
Thank you for your service. I’m counting on you to defend our institutions and protect our most vulnerable.
