An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Defend the 14th amendment, Say no to executive branch overreach

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The president's executive order aiming to restrict birthright citizenship blatantly contradicts the 14th Amendment's guarantee of citizenship to all persons born in the United States. Attempting to undermine this Constitutional provision through unilateral executive action is a clear violation of the separation of powers and the system of checks and balances that define our democratic system of government. Any change to the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment must follow the proper Constitutional process of being proposed by Congress and ratified by three-fourths of the states. I urge you to reject this unconstitutional executive overreach and defend the integrity of the 14th Amendment and the principles of due process enshrined in our nation's founding documents.
