Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Just a reminder that most voters are not idiots. In the continuing effort to score political points, we read about the cynical GOP House vote to repeal provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act. Provisions for renewable energy projects that will create jobs, and generally boost state economies. Provisions that GOP reps have been busily touting in their districts, where 80% of the funding allotted goes, even though they all originally voted against the IRA.
Bringing home the bacon while biting the hand that gives it to you.
Now, secure in the knowledge that it will never pass muster in the Senate, or would be vetoed by the president if it did, GOP House members voted to rip these projects away from their districts, and all economic progress that would come with it.
In case you missed it, here are the 26 Republican lawmakers and clean energy investments announced in their districts since passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, and the money they hope to have go away.
