An open letter to the U.S. Congress

End Deportations to Avert a National Food Crisis

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The Secretary of Agriculture just said that migrant farmworkers being deported and detained could be replaced with Medicaid recipients who must now meet the 80 hour a month work requirement. 40% of Medicaid recipients are infants, and the bulk of the remaining recipients are elderly or disabled. This is a laughably ignorant statement to make, and does nothing to solve the food crisis looming ahead of us as a result of these deportations. End the deportations, provide a path for migrant workers to receive a Social Security number, pay taxes, and get paid minimum wage under US labor laws, and let the backbone of our economy keep thriving.
