CONGRESS MUST INITIATE IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS TO PROTECT THE RULE OF LAW
As a constituent, I urge you to support the initiation of impeachment proceedings against Attorney General Pam Bondi if she does not resign. The Constitution entrusts Congress with the duty to act when executive officials abuse authority, obstruct lawful oversight, or undermine the fair administration of justice. When those entrusted with enforcing the law weaken public confidence in its impartial application, Congress must intervene to protect constitutional governance.
ABUSE OF PROSECUTORIAL AUTHORITY THREATENS EQUAL JUSTICE
Serious concerns have been raised by legal experts, former prosecutors, and members of Congress regarding investigative and charging decisions that appear politically influenced.
These concerns intensified after indictments against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James were dismissed when a federal judge ruled that the prosecutor’s appointment was legally invalid.
Reports have also described efforts to pursue charges against elected officials in connection with political expression, raising significant constitutional concerns.
Even the appearance that federal prosecutorial power is used for political purposes threatens equal justice under law and erodes public confidence in democratic governance.
DOJ CREDIBILITY BEFORE THE COURTS HAS BEEN CALLED INTO QUESTION
Federal courts depend on candor, accuracy, and neutrality from the Department of Justice.
Judges have criticized government filings for inaccuracies and lack of candor, and legal analysts and former judges have warned that misleading representations risk eroding judicial trust in the Department.
A former senior DOJ attorney has publicly alleged retaliation after refusing to submit a filing he believed contained misleading assertions, raising additional concerns about candor to the courts.
When courts question the reliability of government representations, prosecutions are weakened and public confidence in judicial outcomes declines.
Judicial confidence in government representations is essential to the fair administration of justice.
OBSTRUCTION OR CHILLING OF CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT CANNOT BE TOLERATED
Members of Congress from both parties have raised separation-of-powers concerns after the Department logged or monitored lawmakers’ review activity while they examined Epstein-related materials.
Executive monitoring of legislative oversight activities risks chilling Congressional review and undermining the constitutional balance of powers.
Such monitoring may discourage oversight participation and inhibit Congress’s constitutional responsibilities.
Congress must ensure that oversight functions can be carried out without intimidation or interference.
FAILURE TO ENSURE LAWFUL TRANSPARENCY DENIES ACCOUNTABILITY
Questions remain about the completeness of the release of Epstein-related investigative materials, and lawmakers have raised concerns about whether the full record necessary for accountability has been made available.
Extensive redactions obscure names, timelines, and investigative findings.
While victim protection is essential, excessive secrecy risks shielding perpetrators, concealing institutional failures, and denying victims and the public meaningful accountability.
Without lawful transparency, victims are denied justice and institutional failures cannot be fully assessed.
Transparency is essential not only for public trust but also for determining whether institutional failures occurred.
Congress must ensure disclosure practices comply with governing law and accountability obligations.
FAILURE TO PROVIDE CLEAR AND RESPONSIVE TESTIMONY IMPAIRS OVERSIGHT
During recent hearings, the Attorney General declined to provide clear answers to key oversight questions and dismissed concerns raised by lawmakers and survivors.
Congressional oversight requires forthright cooperation and complete responses.
Failure to provide clear and responsive testimony impairs Congress’s constitutional responsibilities.
CONGRESS MUST TAKE THE FOLLOWING STEPS
(1) Call for the resignation of Attorney General Pam Bondi.
(2) Initiate House Judiciary Committee hearings examining abuse of authority, candor to courts, transparency failures, and obstruction of oversight.
(3) Require sworn corrections or clarifications of disputed testimony provided to Congress.
(4) Investigate prosecutorial decision-making to ensure independence from political influence.
(5) If evidence confirms abuse of power, obstruction of oversight, or false testimony, adopt Articles of Impeachment and proceed to trial in the Senate.
Taken together, these concerns raise profound questions about the independence, credibility, and integrity of the Department of Justice.
Congress must act decisively and without delay to restore confidence in equal justice under law.
