Indigenous funding priorities for the FY 2025–26 Budget

I urge you to include Indigenous funding priorities in the FY 2025–26 Budget. The climate crisis deeply affects Indigenous communities, especially in New York. Addressing these impacts is crucial for climate justice. Funding Priorities: $5M for Shinnecock Elder Caregiver Program: Restore vital services for tribal elders. $20M for Native Schools: Rehabilitate and renovate Native schools on Onondaga, St. Regis Mohawk, and Tuscarora reservations. Increased Funding for Native Health Clinics: Allocate $6.5M to Indian Nation health clinics and $2M to the American Indian Health Program. Additionally, suspend funding for the Western New York STAMP project, which threatens Tonawanda Seneca lands. Include the Montaukett Reinstatement Bill (A5295 / S3308) to honor their heritage. Please include these priorities in the budget to ensure New York leads in climate justice.
