USAID Has Been Dismantled; The State Department Is Next
USAID has already been effectively dismantled. Over 80% of its programs have been canceled, thousands of staff and contracts cut, and its operations hollowed out. Now, the State Department stands on the brink of similar destruction. Proposed cuts would slash its budget nearly in half, eliminate offices, and force out experienced diplomats.
These Are Not Just Budget Cuts—They Undermine National Security
This is not about fiscal restraint. It is a deliberate retreat from American leadership. Diplomacy and development are strategic tools that prevent war, stabilize regions, and advance U.S. interests. Weakening them increases global instability and cedes influence to authoritarian powers.
USAID Must Be Re-Instituted
Although USAID has been dismantled, its mission remains essential. It delivers humanitarian relief, supports democratic institutions, and strengthens public health systems abroad—all vital to global security and U.S. credibility. Congress must act now to reinstitute and fund this agency.
Protect the State Department Before It’s Too Late
The State Department is next in line. Without action, it will lose the capacity to manage alliances, avert conflicts, and support Americans overseas. The diplomatic corps must be preserved and strengthened—not hollowed out.
A Moment of Reckoning
A detailed account of these developments is available in the April 20, 2025 New York Times article:

Call to Action: Reinstate, Restore, Reinvest
I urge you to speak out against these cuts, support the reinstitution of USAID, and block efforts to dismantle the State Department. These institutions are essential to American security and global engagement. Please act before lasting damage is done.
