I have friends who served their country with valor and distinction, and now live in veterans' residences that are unsafe. They fear their buildings will get shut down, because their fellow residents refuse to defend against COVID-19 infection and transmission, by getting vaccinated, tested, and wearing masks in common areas. They claim to have been willing to take a bullet for their country, but are so self-centered and belligerent they won't take a needle to protect their neighbors and community. I'm asking you to sponsor legislation and, at the very least, submit a letter to Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary McDonough, demanding that housing be contingent on those very real and pressing duties to stem the transmission of deadly disease, regardless of any contrived personal ideologies which those insecure and miguided, dangerous residents have acquired.
