I am writing to urge you to create & support measures that will help protect Yosemite National Park.
Recent reports reveal that the park is facing a "catastrophic" staffing shortage due to a hiring freeze implemented by the Trump administration, which also resulted in the firing of dedicated, seasoned employees who had a deep commitment to the park’s mission. As Yosemite prepares for its busiest season, this staffing crisis threatens not only the park’s natural resources but also the safety and well-being of both its visitors and its staff.
The lack of adequate personnel is severely hindering efforts to protect Yosemite’s delicate ecosystems and its wildlife. For years, the park has been a model for conservation and preservation, but with ongoing challenges—such as the staffing shortage—the ability to uphold these values is in jeopardy.
As a nation, we cannot afford to let such a beautiful and important natural treasure fall into disrepair. I urge you to prioritize funding and legislative action to ensure Yosemite is fully staffed, adequately managed, and supported in its mission to protect the environment for future generations.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue.
