An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Stop the Rollback of Civil Rights and Personal Freedoms

95 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

I’m writing to urge you to reject the Trump administration’s recent policies that target people based on identity—whether gender, race, or background. In 2025, the administration blocked passport updates for transgender Americans and redefined gender in federal law to exclude millions. These moves come alongside efforts to roll back protections for women, restrict DEI programs, and marginalize Latino, Black, and Indigenous communities through policy and rhetoric (The 19th, April 2025; Reuters, February 2025). These actions don’t make America stronger—they divide, erase, and silence. When a government begins deciding whose identity is valid, whose history can be taught, and whose rights can be scaled back, it’s not about fairness or efficiency. It’s about control. We’ve seen this before in other times and places, and we know how it ends. I urge you to take a stand now—before the damage becomes irreversible.
