While Blanche verbally claimed to Congress that the $1.8 billion fund is dead, he continues to refuse to put that cancellation in writing; and, more importantly, he has refused to rescind this unconstitutional immunity clause. This is not a past issue; it is an active, ongoing protection racket. By leaving this clause in place, the Justice Department is blocking the IRS from pursuing a reported $100 million in known outstanding tax obligations. If an ordinary American citizen manufactured a lawsuit to escape a tax audit, they would face swift penalties and potential jail time. Instead, our system of checks and balances is being dismantled from within so the head of the executive branch never has to face financial accountability. Left, right, or independent—no American should tolerate a two-tiered justice system that immunizes the powerful while auditing the working class.
