Maybe, our democracy-valuing lawmakers should prepare gerrymandered maps as well

I read in the news that Gavin Newsom is at the ready in California, and several states are considering redistricting efforts as well, in response to Texas Governor Greg Abbott's push to gerrymander congressional maps to favor Republicans. Established Independent Redistricting Commissions are not stopping some states from preparing to join Texas in gerrymandering, and as Governor Newsom mentioned, "fight fire with fire". Maybe our democracy-valuing lawmakers should prepare gerrymandered maps as well. This may be what is needed to succeed in passing anti-gerrymandering legislation. With sincere regard.
