An open letter to State Governors

Without your action it will indeed be "long live the king" - stand up to Trump

63 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

I'm writing to you as a citizen of your state begging you to take action against the current administration, or at a minimum consider the words of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, as a model that all Governors should be trying to emulate. In his state of the union on February 19th, he stated that: "If we don’t want to repeat history then for god sake in this moment we better be strong enough to learn from it....Tyranny requires your fear and your silence and your compliance. Democracy requires your courage. So gather your justice and humanity...and do not let the tragic spirit of despair overcome us when our country needs us most." And Pritzker is right. Our nation is in danger from a president who wishes to make himself king. What are you doing to acknowledge and face this threat? How are you protecting the residents of your state? How are you making sure that we ate 50 states represented in our democratic nation, not a feudal system paying tribute to a monarch?
