This is not just entertainment. It’s an investment in our society—one that has already paid dividends in public education, civic engagement, and cultural preservation. To defund PBS now, after all the time and public money we’ve invested, would be to abandon one of the most successful and trusted public institutions in our country. Unlike commercial media outlets, PBS is not driven by advertising dollars or corporate shareholders. Its mission is to serve the American people—especially communities that commercial networks often overlook. From rural towns to underserved urban neighborhoods, PBS remains a vital lifeline to free, quality information and programming. We need a national broadcasting system that is independent from corporate influence—one that puts people, not profits, first. Please stand with your constituents and protect federal funding for PBS.
