Tell Congress: Birthright Citizenship Isn’t Up for a Vote

I am writing to urge you to oppose the Birthright Citizenship Clarification Act introduced by Rep. John McGuire. This bill attempts to codify a policy the Supreme Court already struck down. In Trump v. Barbara, the Court reaffirmed that the Fourteenth Amendment guarantees citizenship to virtually all children born on U.S. soil, regardless of their parents’ immigration status. This bill does not “clarify” the law. It defies a ruling the highest court in the land already settled. Birthright citizenship exists because America once decided citizenship was negotiable, and that decision cost the country dearly. The Fourteenth Amendment was written to end that argument permanently. This bill tries to reopen it. I ask you to: Publicly oppose the Birthright Citizenship Clarification Act. Vote no if it reaches the floor. State clearly that you will defend the Constitution over executive overreach, regardless of which administration attempts it. Real families are affected by this. Children born here have already faced delayed passports and denied benefits while courts intervened to protect their citizenship.
