Oppose & Vote NO on H.R. 1 “Big Bad Bill” for the Country’s Sake

As your constituent, I am appalled and outraged by the House Republican vote in favor of the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” this week. There’s nothing beautiful about it. It doesn’t make anything better. This legislation is a disgraceful assault on working families, the rule of law, and the foundational balance of our government. The support for it is completely indefensible, and all eyes are now on the Senate. In particular, I’m enraged by the provision that guts the federal judiciary’s ability to enforce rulings when a bond isn’t posted in advance. This is a blatant attempt to shield corporations and powerful interests from accountability, while tying the hands of judges and stripping ordinary Americans of legal recourse. Republicans didn’t just vote for a bad bill, they voted to undermine the very architecture of justice in this country. You know better than most that many individuals and small organizations lack the resources to post significant bonds before having they rights heard and enforced. This provision effectively slams the courthouse doors shut for countless Americans. It is anti-democratic, anti-constitutional, and deeply un-American. But this bill is pure evil. As you know, it will: ⁃ Cause hunger for working families dependent on SNAP. ⁃ Cut Medicare and Medicaid and throw millions off of insurance. ⁃ Leaves no funds for emergency response in the case of wildfires, tornadoes, floods and hurricanes. ⁃ It WILL explode the deficit, thus putting the lie to any idea that this was to make any headway against reducing the deficit. Republicans have betrayed not just their constituents, but the very oath they swore to uphold the Constitution and defend the rule of law. I urge you in the strongest possible terms to fight to strip out as many harmful provisions of this travesty of a bill, and in any case vote NO. Thank you for your service.
