Keep the Military Out of Our Cities - No Kings!

When the Founders wrote the Declaration of Independence, one of their biggest fears was a leader who used the military against his own people. They hated that King George kept "standing armies" in their towns during times of peace without the consent of their local governments. They explicitly warned against any leader who tried to make the military "superior to the civil power." Today, the Trump administration is acting straight out of that old royal playbook.  This administration wants to treat American cities like combat zones. We see it with the ongoing deployment of thousands of National Guard troops to patrol residential neighborhoods in cities like Washington D.C., Memphis, and New Orleans—often overriding local objections. The Trump administration acts like the presidency gives them the right to use the armed forces as a domestic police force whenever they please.  But the Declaration of Independence is clear: The military answers to the law, not the whims of the leader. Look at how their agenda copies the old king: - King Rule #1: Deploy Troops Against Citizens. The Declaration fought against a king who put armed soldiers in peaceful towns. Today, this administration uses federalized troops on local streets under false emergency declarations to manage civil dissent and enforce domestic policies.  - King Rule #2: Treat America Like a War Zone. The Founders believed the military belongs on foreign battlefields, not domestic streets. Today, the Trump platform frames domestic political opposition and immigration as an "invasion," using false wartime rhetoric to justify putting boots on our streets.  - King Rule #3: Bypass Civilian Protections. Just like King George, who ignored local colonial laws, this administration relies on aggressive legal loopholes to sidestep the Posse Comitatus Act—the strict American law meant to forbid the federal military from acting as a local police force. We are a democracy, not a kingdom. The true job of the military is to protect the nation from foreign threats—not to occupy our neighborhoods, patrol our commercial districts, or intimidate American citizens. I demand that your administration immediately halt the domestic deployment of federal forces, respect the authority of local civil leaders, and remember that in America, civil law is supreme. Nobody is above it—especially not the President. Please do all you can to oppose this President who would be King.
