As a member of Congress, what is your first duty to your constituents? Under normal circumstances it would be to enact laws to fund government functions and programs, hold hearings to inform the legislative process, and oversee the executive branch. But these are not normal times. Under the current regime, your most important duty is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States from enemies domestic and foreign. Can you honestly say that's what you've been doing? As your constituent, I say no. Your job cannot be confined to speaking out on weekends, making one long speech weeks and weeks ago, or doing virtually nothing. I realize it's tempting to worry about getting reelected, but if you all do not step up and start actually taking back congressional power that has been usurped by the executive branch, you won't be reelected because if there are elections in 2026 it's highly unlikely that they will be free or fair. You have nothing to lose and your primary job is not to be reelected. It is to do everything in your power to ensure that we keep our democracy alive and functional. If John Lewis were alive today, what do you think he would be doing? He'd be standing up boldly and publicly to reassert congressional authority every single
day. But he's not alive, so it's up do you. What are you waiting for?
