Oppose Nomination of Joseph Berry for Solicitor for Labor Department

As an alarmed constituent, and member of the work force, I’m writing to urge you in the strongest possible terms to strongly oppose the nomination of Jonathan Berry as Solicitor for the U.S. Department of Labor.
Berry holds extremist views, outlined in his labor chapter for Project 2025, would undermine key worker protections and enable discrimination against women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and those with disabilities.
First and foremost, Berry seeks to gut wage protections like minimum wage and overtime pay requirements, by making it easier for employers to misclassify workers and evade responsibility.
His proposals would attack decades of civil rights progress by rescinding executive orders prohibiting discrimination by federal contractors, dismantling the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs that enforces equal opportunity, and limiting the use of disparate impact analysis to prove discrimination.
He also opposes data collection on race and gender, which is essential for identifying discriminatory employment practices.
As if that was not enough, Berry's recommendations eviscerate protections for LGBTQ+ workers by allowing discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Berry’s proposals could lead to employers imposing their political views on reproductive rights, denying workers accommodations related to pregnancy and abortion care.
His labor policies prioritize corporate interests over workers by undermining unions and replacing impartial experts with political appointees.
He’s not normal, he would use the law in direct opposition to worker’s rights
I urge you to reject Berry’s nomination to uphold our nation's civil rights laws and commitment to workplace equality.
Thank you for your attention to this fundamental rights issue.
