With millions of Americans out of work, over 100,000 dead from a poorly managed pandemic, and the disease of racism wreaking havoc in our streets, you could not take the time to make a statement about the terrible actions taken on behalf of the president relative to his photo op at St. John’s. Your silence on the matter speaks volumes. Oh, wait . . . Let me restate that. Your concern for your lunch over the lives and wellbeing of American citizens screams at who you feel is the most important person Senator Portman serves. I have written to you multiple times to express my views, and to try to help you understand the perspective of your constituents, but it appears I should have sent my letters with a snack. Instead of serving your constituents, you’re more concerned with serving yourself lunch. Shame on you. Make a statement about how we cannot let systemic racism continue. Make a statement that HR 40 needs to pass. Make a statement that you’re sorry for the actions of the president that YOU acquitted for other abuses of power—possibly emboldening him to these new lows of gassing his own citizens. If you remain silent, I will say it again. Today, and every day. Shame on you.
