I’m your constituent.
The right to vote is the foundation of our democracy, yet it remains under attack. I urge you to vote for the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (H.R. 14) and stop voter suppression in its tracks.
Since the Supreme Court’s 2013 decision to gut the Voting Rights Act, we’ve seen an alarming rise in state-level efforts to suppress the vote -- more than 100 new laws restricting voting access have been enacted nationwide. And this year Congress is weighing a federal voter suppression bill called the SAVE Act that would harm tens of millions.
The impact of state voter suppression laws couldn’t be clearer: millions of voters -- particularly Black and brown voters, Native voters, LGBTQ+ voters, young voters, voters with disabilities, and low-income voters -- face increasing barriers to the ballot box.
Voting rights are not a privilege; they are fundamental to the health of our democracy and the protection of all other rights. By passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, we can put an end to discriminatory voter suppression efforts and ensure a democracy that includes and protects us all.
As your constituent, I urge you to support this critical legislation and do everything in your power to ensure its swift passage. The future of our democracy depends on it.
Thank you for your time and for fighting for ALL Americans.
