Demand accountability for Secretary Kennedy's offensive autism remarks

Secretary Kennedy's offensive and inaccurate comments about people with autism are unacceptable and deeply troubling coming from the nation's top health official. As a public servant responsible for protecting the well-being of all Americans, he should know better than to perpetuate harmful stereotypes that diminish the humanity and potential of a significant portion of our population. Numerous examples show that individuals on the autism spectrum can and do lead productive lives, pay taxes, hold jobs, form relationships, and make valuable contributions to society. I am requesting that Secretary Kennedy be called to testify before the appropriate congressional committee to explain his remarks and issue a formal apology. His comments reflect an alarming lack of understanding about autism and the challenges faced by those affected. As the leader of the Department of Health and Human Services, he has a responsibility to educate himself and promote policies based on facts, not antiquated prejudices. Offensive rhetoric from someone in his position is unacceptable and undermines public trust in his leadership. Secretary Kennedy must be held accountable for these insensitive and indefensible statements that have rightfully provoked backlash from the autism community and allies. Failing to address this properly will only enable further discrimination against an already marginalized group. I urge you to take swift action to denounce these remarks and demand Secretary Kennedy correct the record.
