An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Stop the Sell-Off: Protect Our Public Lands Now

277 so far! Help us get to 500 signers!

Block every effort to privatize, log, or drill our public lands. The Trump administration's executive order opening 280 million acres of national forests to logging bypasses the Endangered Species Act and puts wildlife, water quality, and wildfire in jeopardy. On January 20th, another executive action reopened the pristine ecosystem of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas drilling. These same companies showed little interest in this area when leases were last auctioned. These aren't economic wins, they’re giveaways at the expense of our treasured public lands, wildlife, and ecosystems. The Presidio Trust in San Francisco is a proven model of public/private land stewardship, and it's now being targeted for political reasons. Vote against any legislation that weakens protections for national forests, wildlife refuges, or public land management agencies. Oppose budget cuts to the National Park Service and Bureau of Land Management. These lands belong to the public, not to industries lining up to profit from them.
