Imagine for a moment you're a happily expectant mother. You're pondering names, stocking up on diapers, selecting a crib. Imagine you get injured, or become ill, or experience a complication. Thru no fault of your own and against your wishes, the pregnancy ends in miscarriage.
Imagine being tried for murder after that experience. Police arriving at your door while you've barely begun to heal and grieve. Or perhaps handcuffing you to the hospital bed even before you can process what happened.
This cruelty, this inhumane concept of sending women to prison for experiencing this loss, is desired by a radical fringe of forced birth advocates in our nation. They are blocked only by a single Supreme Court precedent. For this and many other reasons I am writing a letter a day to end forced birth by writing reproductive freedom into law.
