I am angry and frustrated to read that there is a "power sharing" agreement with Republicans for control of the Senate.
If the last four years have taught us anything, it is that control of the Senate is instrumental in the direction of our country. The Republicans under Mitch McConnell have been obstructionist to Democrats and sycophants to the current president. We worked long and hard to deliver a Democratic Senate against long odds specifically to take power away from Mitch McConnell. Why on earth would Chuck Schumer and the rest of the Democratic caucus voluntarily give any part of it back?
The Democrats right now appear to be, to coin a phrase, chumps. You are playing by a set of rules that the other side will not abide by, and then throwing them a few extras hoping they'll be nice. They won't.
I'm all for unity. If we had a Republican caucus that actually believed in it, that would be great. We don't. Stop pretending we do.
Please, please, pressure Senator Schumer to keep every bit of power he possibly can to pass President Biden's agenda. We can't afford not to. Too much is at stake.
