An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Investigate Musk's unilateral directives, protect federal workers and records

8 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

The reported actions by Elon Musk and the Trump administration to rapidly consolidate control over federal agencies and dismantle them without congressional approval raise serious constitutional concerns about the separation of powers. Musk's alleged access to sensitive government data systems and his role in terminating federal leases and forcing out career employees is extremely concerning from an oversight and accountability perspective. I urge you to use your authority as a legislator to conduct vigorous oversight into these developments. Hearings should be held to investigate the scope of Musk's unilateral directives and whether they violate laws around government employment, data access, and the constitutional process for restructuring agencies. Steps must be taken to protect federal workers from unlawful termination and preserve crucial government records and functions. Upholding democratic norms and the rule of law should be the top priority.
