Obey the Law, Feed the People: Stop Trump’s Attack on SNAP benefits

I am writing to urge you to stand with Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers — and with the millions of Americans who depend on SNAP benefits — by telling President Trump NO to his unlawful and inhumane demand that states stop dispensing food assistance to families in need. Governor Evers did what every responsible leader should do: he upheld a court order, ensured that hundreds of thousands of children, families, and seniors could access basic groceries, and refused to abandon his constituents to hunger. Every governor and legislator across this country should do the same. This is not a partisan issue, and it should not be difficult for any public servant to support. Making sure that people can eat is not about politics — it’s about decency, legality, and compassion. There is no reason anyone should be forced to go hungry simply to appease a president’s ego or political agenda. Allowing children, seniors, and struggling families to starve will never make this country stronger — it only erodes our shared humanity. The President’s attempt to strip away food assistance is both cruel and unlawful. We need every governor, every member of Congress, and every state legislator to stand up, speak out, and refuse to comply with any order that would take food off Americans’ tables. Please publicly commit to protecting SNAP benefits and ensuring that every family in your state can afford to eat. Hunger is not a political bargaining chip — it is a moral emergency. No family should ever go hungry because of politics. I am counting on you to defend the right of every American — regardless of income, party, or zip code — to put food on the table.
