Dear Members of Congress,
Let us state plainly what has just been confirmed: the man currently running the Federal Bureau of Investigation was himself the subject of an extensive FBI investigation — one that is now known to be far broader than previously reported.
Newly released records reveal that Special Counsel Jack Smith subpoenaed more than two years of Kash Patel’s phone records, text message data, and financial information as part of federal investigations into the 2020 election and the illegal retention of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. A federal magistrate judge issued a nondisclosure order in the Patel probe, citing “reasonable grounds to believe that disclosure will result in flight from prosecution, destruction of or tampering with evidence, intimidation of potential witnesses, and serious jeopardy to the investigation.”
That man now leads the FBI.
And what has he done with that power? He fired at least 10 agents tied to the Trump documents investigation. He gutted the FBI’s counterintelligence unit — including agents tracking Iranian threats — just days before the U.S. launched military operations against Iran. He has used government aircraft for at least 10 personal trips, including a junket to the Milan Winter Olympics where he was photographed chugging beer in the locker room while his agents were managing a cartel crisis in Mexico.
This is not an FBI director. This is a Trump loyalist using the world’s most powerful law enforcement agency as a personal weapon and a personal perk.
Congress has the power to impeach and remove Cabinet-level civil officers. The grounds are right in front of you: abuse of office, obstruction of legitimate law enforcement, and the staggering conflict of interest of placing a man under active federal investigation in charge of federal investigations.
Do your job. Remove Kash Patel.
