An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Fund the Postal Service as a Constitutional Service, Not a Business

50 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

Congress must lift the $15 billion borrowing cap immediately and fund the Postal Service as the public service it was designed to be. The USPS will run out of money by February 2027 and won't be able to pay employees or vendors without action now. The Postal Service is explicitly authorized in the Constitution. It's a service, not a business that needs to turn a profit. Americans deserve universal mail delivery to every address six days a week, regardless of whether it's profitable. FedEx and UPS won't deliver to rural communities or charge affordable rates because they answer to shareholders, not citizens. Fund the Postal Service through appropriations like any other essential government function. Defend the constitutional service every American depends on.
