Budget cuts

I am concerned about the recent budget resolution. I hear that the GOP is now saying they won’t cut Medicaid. But my question is since the GOP budget resolution requires the Energy and Commerce Committee cut $880 billion, I want to know where exactly that $880 billion will come from if not from Medicaid. The NYT states, even if the committee cuts everything that’s not healthcare to $0 it will still be more than $600 billion dollars short. So are Republicans going to have to cut Medicare to get to the $880 billion? Are you congresspeople just hoping that we the American people don’t understand the budgeting process?
I think it would be egregious if you cut Medicaid. It is going to harm many, many people in the state of Texas. It will hurt seniors who live in nursing homes. What will those nursing homes do, turn those people out on their ear? It will affect children receiving healthcare through Medicaid. What will happen to those kids? Thinking that the states are going to pick up where the feds are cutting is ludicrous in Texas. Texas isn’t going to cover those benefits for kids. Anyone with long-term health issues, like diabetes, kidney failure, cancer, mental disorders are all going to suffer when Medicaid is cut. And rural healthcare and hospitals are at risk of closing.
And many people in Texas, who are Republicans and have severe health problems or have kiddos that need health coverage or have elderly people in their families are all going to be in dire straits with this budget resolution you passed.
This is unacceptable. Low income people, the elderly, children cannot just be booted off their healthcare coverage. We can’t afford to have any more rural hospitals closed because of mismanagement at the federal level! And Texas has a long history of not picking up where the federal government ends.
