Block the USPS Rule That Would Strip States of Mail Ballot Control

I’m writing to urge you to block the USPS proposed rule that would restrict mail voting to only those on federal government lists. This rule, announced to implement President Trump's March executive order, is an unconstitutional federal takeover of elections — and you need to act before it takes effect. The Constitution gives states the authority to run elections. Only Congress can set national standards, not the Postal Service acting on an executive order. The federal databases this rule relies on, including DHS records, have documented errors that would deny ballots to eligible voters. USPS even acknowledged mistakes are inevitable by building in a "supplemental submissions" process. And the rule's plan to tie voters' names to unique barcodes on their ballots raises serious surveillance concerns that have no place in a free election. Use every tool available — legislation, oversight hearings, funding restrictions — to stop this rule from taking effect. Law professor Justin Levitt called this "one step closer to an end to this charade," and legal challenges are now viable. But courts alone shouldn't have to carry this. Congress has both the authority and the obligation to defend states' rights over elections. Block these rules. Thank you.
