It is imperative that we invoke the impeachment clause of the Constitution against Donald John Trump. This twice-impeached, now felonious president has already committed multiple abuses of power since beginning his second term.
The Constitution was designed to prevent tyranny by establishing co-equal branches—Congress, the Executive, and the Judiciary—and by including a vital safeguard: the impeachment clause, meant to remove a lawless president.
Trump has repeatedly shown he sees the presidency as a tool for personal gain, vengeance, and authoritarian rule. These are just some of the impeachable offenses he’s already committed:
Violating the Emoluments Clause: Trump profits from foreign governments through properties like Trump World Tower, where five nations reportedly pay over $2 million a month.
Retaliating Against Opponents: He’s weaponized the government to punish perceived enemies—targeting Jack Smith, revoking clearances from officials like Fauci and Milley, and launching baseless investigations into prosecutors.
Dismantling Oversight: Trump purged federal watchdogs, firing 17 inspectors general, gutting agencies like the CFPB, and removing EEOC and NLRB officials to shield himself and his allies.
Usurping Congressional Powers: He blocked trillions in appropriated funds and created extralegal authorities above federal agencies—violating the Advice and Consent, Taxing, and Appropriations Clauses.
Defying Court Orders: Trump has refused to comply with rulings to release foreign aid and lift freezes on assistance—undermining the judiciary and checks and balances.
Attacking Birthright Citizenship: In defiance of the 14th Amendment, he issued an executive order to strip U.S.-born citizens of citizenship based on their parents’ immigration status.
Corrupt Dealings with Mayor Eric Adams: Trump arranged for DOJ to drop charges against Adams in exchange for immigration enforcement help, while retaliating against a U.S. attorney who refused to comply.
Abusing the Pardon Power: He pardoned or commuted sentences for over 1,500 January 6 rioters, shielding himself and obstructing accountability for the insurrection he incited.
Misusing Emergency Powers: Trump declared false emergencies—deploying troops at the border and protecting fossil fuel companies under a bogus “energy emergency.”
Undermining Election Security: He shut down CISA’s election work, fired 130 cybersecurity staff, and disbanded the FBI taskforce investigating foreign interference.
Hijacking Local Authority: Trump tried to force states into mass deportations and arrested judges who resisted—threatening local governance and the rule of law.
If democracy is to survive, Congress must act. These aren’t hypotheticals—they’re ongoing impeachable offenses.
