Stop the Big Bend border wall. Construction began September 15 on a 47.3-mile primary wall project in Hudspeth County, and I want you to use every tool available to halt it — defund it, litigate it, block it. This is not a close call.
The administration is bulldozing through private land via eminent domain, waiving environmental laws, and threatening sacred indigenous sites that have existed for thousands of years. A coalition of West Texas landowners has already filed a federal lawsuit to stop it. The No Big Bend Wall Coalition estimates 400 landowners hold Rio Grande frontage in the path of this project. Flooding, destruction of tourism, and permanent loss of cultural heritage are not hypothetical — they are what happens when you wall off one of the most pristine landscapes in the country. As former Big Bend National Park superintendent Bob Krumenaker put it, opposition here crosses party lines.
CBP is spending $46.5 billion from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act to build this. That money is being used to override the law, override landowners, and override the public. End this project now.
