Independent agencies were designed to operate outside of undue political influence, providing impartial expertise and oversight. Subjecting them to White House control and revising their funding jeopardizes their core purpose of serving the public interest over partisan aims. Furthermore, requiring all regulations to be approved by the White House enables unrestrained executive overreach into areas meant to remain independent. This order grievously erodes the separation of powers and system of accountability enshrined in the Constitution.
