Oppose Ongoing ICE Funding in Any Appropriations Bill

I am a constituent writing with serious concern about continued congressional funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Ongoing appropriations for this agency are endangering public safety, violating constitutional rights, and eroding trust in government accountability. ICE has repeatedly operated outside normal legal and oversight boundaries, with civil immigration enforcement practices that place U.S. citizens, families, and lawful residents at risk of wrongful detention and harm. Continued funding without meaningful reform enables a pattern of lawless conduct that undermines due process and community safety rather than protecting it. These practices raise grave Fourth Amendment and due-process concerns. Civil detentions without judicial warrants, aggressive enforcement actions, and lack of meaningful accountability mechanisms create foreseeable and preventable harm. Congress has an obligation to ensure that federal funds are not used to sustain unconstitutional or dangerous practices. I am asking you to publicly state on the record that continued ICE funding is unacceptable. I also ask you to take concrete procedural action by opposing any appropriations bill that maintains ICE funding, and by insisting that Department of Homeland Security funding be considered separately so that other critical government functions are not held hostage to ICE’s budget. If ICE funding is allowed to continue unchecked, Congress should expect further violations of civil liberties and further erosion of public trust—outcomes that are both foreseeable and preventable. Failure to act will place responsibility squarely on lawmakers who choose to continue funding these practices. I expect my representatives to protect constitutional rights, public safety, and fiscal responsibility. Please oppose ongoing funding for ICE and make your position clear to your constituents.
