An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Preserve America's multicultural heritage, reject historical erasure

38 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

The ongoing erasure of non-white histories and recent events like the Black Lives Matter movement from federal websites and public spaces is deeply concerning. It reflects an attempt to whitewash American history and suppress recognition of the diverse communities and marginalized voices that have shaped our nation. Removing stories of heroes like the Navajo Code Talkers, jackhammering the Black Lives Matter mural, and scrubbing websites of images representing women and minorities betrays our core values of equality and inclusion. These actions align with authoritarian regimes, not a free democratic society. We must firmly reject such revisionist narratives that erase the central role played by people of color, women, and other underrepresented groups throughout our history. Their stories deserve to be elevated and celebrated, not erased. I urge you to speak out against these alarming acts of historical erasure and take concrete steps to preserve an accurate, unvarnished account of America's multicultural heritage for future generations. Our diversity is a source of strength, not weakness. True unity cannot be achieved by whitewashing the past.
