Pass HB523 to Support Ohio's Student Teachers and Staff Hard-to-Fill Classrooms

Please vote yes on House Bill 523, the Future Educators Support Act. It has already been engrossed and now needs your vote to become law. The bill gives student teachers real financial support during the months they work in classrooms for free, and it steers that help toward the in-demand teaching jobs Ohio struggles most to fill.
Right now too many talented people who want to teach can't afford to. Student teaching is unpaid full-time work, and that barrier pushes good candidates out before they ever reach a classroom. HB523 fixes that by backing the people willing to do the job, and it does so where the need is greatest, in the schools and subjects where Ohio cannot find enough trained educators.
This is not a partisan idea. The bill is sponsored by Republicans and Democrats together, including Sean Brennan, Gayle Manning, Cindy Abrams, and Rachel Baker. That tells you this is a practical solution to a real staffing crisis, not a fight. Ohio students learn better with trained teachers in front of them, and HB523 is how we get more of them. I am asking you to pass it.
