An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Fix the Pharmacy HIPAA Loophole and Protect Our Data

2 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

I was shocked to find out that pharmacies are allowed to hand over sensitive health data without a warrant. This loophole under HIPAA is inexcusable. I urge you to personally take action on this glaring potential for abuse. “Officials with CVS, Kroger and Rite Aid said they instruct their pharmacy staff members to process law enforcement requests on the spot, saying the staff members face “extreme pressure to immediately respond,” the lawmakers’ letter said.” Protect medical professionals from having to do the wrong thing under intimidation.
